Nikki Jay Debuts Dreamin’ Of EP Produced by Cari Cole
For Immediate Release – June 23, 2009 CD Launch
Nikki Jay, a 17-year old singer-songwriter turned independent recording artist, who sings about love, heartache and the trials and tribulations of teenage life, is announcing the release of her debut album Dreamin’ Of. The EP of five original songs is the culmination of four years of songwriting, and subsequent artist development under the direction of New York City-based Cari Cole, Cari Cole Voice and Music Co. Cari Cole is an award-winning singer-songwriter, producer and vocal coach to Grammy winners (Chrisette Michelle/Def Jam Records, Donald Fagen/Steely Dan) ; American Idol Finalists (Kimberley Locke); legendary rock stars (Courtney Love, Jonathon Cain/Journey); and newcomer S-Curve recording artist Diane Birch among many others.
A country pop girl with a city-loving heart, Nikki serves up a good dose of music that moves and rocks over a bed of steel guitars, ivory and ebony keys, fiddles and strings, big backing vocals and edgy guitars. Her sultry velvet voice croons with an ache and twang far beyond her years. Jay and Cole came together to create a musical project with a goal to combine a country/ pop sound along with the attitude and emotions of a young artist making her way as a newcomer on the scene. The collaboration shows the depth of Jay’s songwriting potential and the strength and skill of her vocals sitting over a bed of power pop/country production. Says Jay, “I wanted to release a record that would appeal to everyone from teenagers, young adults and today’s audience of crossover country music fans. My love of music is rooted in the sounds of true country/pop music. I grew up near Boston, but I’m just an Eastern, country girl at heart. I hope the lyrics and music inspire others to dream and believe in what’s possible.”
Dreamin’ Of gets off to a racy start with That Girl Was Me, a song that combines a fresh, up-country lyric alongside a groove-based rhythm and a pop/country/rock sound. Next up is One Last Chance, a more traditional country tune featuring fiddle and pedal steel guitar weaving around a tale of heartache and uncommitted love. The title cut, Dreamin’ Of, is a smooth sultry ballad that features a four-piece string section and Jay’s exquisite vocals, featuring the backing vocals of vocalist/producer Cari Cole. The next cut is an “off-the-hook” pop/rock tune called Teenage World that relates the trials and tribulations of a teenager in a typical American high school. The final cut So Far is a soft, mellow ballad that brings back the instrumentation, harmony and style of the true traditional pop/country ballad and features Nikki’s voice, which many find to be far beyond her years.
Nikki Jay started singing all genres of music from classical and rock to pop and country from the early age of 11. By the time she was 13, she had a dream of becoming a singer-songwriter and a wish to record an album that could establish her career as both a recording artist/vocalist and songwriter. At the time, most of Jay’s peers were into rap, metal and screamo, but Nikki was instead drawn to the contemporary country sound moved by lyrics that combined melodic vocals with stories of deep, intense feelings and experiences. When vocalist, songwriter and producer Cari Cole of Cari Cole of Cari Cole Voice and Music Co. in New York City first met Nikki Jay, at 13 years old, Cole was taken by the deep burgundy colored mezzo tone coming out of such a young girl and the indescribable passion that lived behind her young eyes. Over years of songwriting and numerous trips to NYC from Boston, under Cole’s direction and guidance, Jay finished her debut EP and launched it on June 23, 2009 on popular online music stores. Hold onto the Things Hardest to Hold Onto
by Nikki Jay on Feb.09, 2012, under Uncategorized
Hey Guys,
I know it has been a while since I last wrote a post, college keeps me busy enough for two people to handle. Anyway, this week I want to talk about this feeling of losing something. In my life there is someone very special to me, someone I believe I can talk to about anything and the idea of losing that sense of security in my life is quite scary.
Have you ever watched someone you love, something you don’t want to live without walk away over and over again? If you do, you know the feeling of loss being almost normality in your life and for me, I don’t think anyone should have to call this feeling, a normal aspect of life or even a sporadic event that happens every so often in someones life. The moral of my post is don’t let go of something in your life, even if that something causes trouble in your life or distress in your mind, because believe me that one thing can make your life hell, but try living life without it and youll never want hell more than you do when you see that thing leave.
Believe in yourself that the things in your life that are hardest to hold on to is actually the one thing you can’t live without.
Much love always,

A New Year a New Beginning for Self Discovery
by Nikki Jay on Jan.03, 2012, under Uncategorized
So many times in life we ask ourselves what is it we want to accomplish within the next few ours of the day? Do we spend it marking off the grueling tasks we have been dreading to finish? do we spend it with only newer discoveries, ones you never thought you would venture to, or do we simply spend it with the people we love and let fate take the rest of our hands?
No one knows what their one true purpose is on this earth, but I feel that with this amount of time at our finger prints why not spread them so wide they bury themselves into every paint bucket of the worlds industry? I have decided to take the road less traveled by and not only go through the do not enter signs, but walk down every road I am up against, because a journey without options is a journey without room for discovery.
The lesson here to be learned is never box yourself into one stereotype or one image there are new horizons for anyone who looks for them. The smallest talent or interest you have could open the Pandora’s box to your future whether you know it or not. With these words in mind look at your life as a writer and open worlds you never thought you could.

Hiatus on a count of self doubt
by Nikki Jay on Jul.18, 2011, under Uncategorized
Hey Guys,
First off I have to say im sorry for my long absence. For a long time I didnt realize how important this chapter of my life has been. I have been doubting myself based on the true meaning of my music. I felt that maybe because I have changed so much in my life I cant be associating myself with this aspect of my life anymore. But i realized thinking this way was only stopping me from what I truly wanted for my music and for my life. In reality this music, the music I made at my most innocent imaginative state in my life defines a huge part of who I am.
Sometimes in life the road will diverge and the path you once would have chosen seems to linger in the distance when the one you would have never picked seems to glimmer with hopes of dream and salvation. However, the important part of this lesson is that even though you may take the new path, the one that seems to lead to prosperity and success you cant forget the first one that helped you start your journey in the first place. For me that first path has defined who I will be in the future and I can never let it wain in importance again in my life.
Self doubt is a curse created by media assumptions, defined status and locked rules made by society. I cant go through life living by other peoples opinions if I love who I was then self doubt should never show its ugly face again. Remember in life to take your strides with your past in mind. I am proud of this amazing accomplishment and for the rest of my life I wont ignore its importance again.
What is it that defines who we are? The very world that has sculpted us from the beginning? The people we have placed in our lives? Or maybe the random events that change our lives forever? Our past makes us who we are and we can never forget the life behind the one we have now because without it we would never have the future in front of us.

Nikki Jay
gratitude will never repay for what life has given me
by Nikki Jay on Feb.22, 2011, under Uncategorized
Hey Guys,
This week, this post is going to be a little different but I think it is just as if not as important as the others. The word this post focuses on is-gratitude.
Recently in my life time a realization has been made that has not only changed my view of the world around me, but my view on my own life.
I sat across the table with my friend forking away at meaningless salads, padded with the familiar sounds of mall walkers steps and shopping bags swinging between legs. As our conversation grew over time the sweet sounds of laughter and gossip slowly disapeered and a dark shawdow was brought over our slow spilling words.
My friend revealed to me a life like any other. Lost in the past of a damaged soul. Little to no money to be found. The story of an eleven year old girl forced out of home by the stupidity and ignorance of a sad couple of adults. A pre teen lacking the resources to obtain a high school degreee, too concerned with the slowly crumbling world around her.
As i sat across from her dumb founded this past was hidden deap within my friend i saw the silver lining behind it all. I look at her with sadness and disbelief, but inside I sat perplexed relizaing the life I had been given was a G-D send. I came from a past full of love, support compassion so many things my friend never knew. I wanted to give her all of this, but all I could do was think about the gratitude I had so stupidly been hiding all these years. I will never be able to repay those that have given me this life. I only hope they know how much it means.
As my friend finished her sad tale, I embraced her shaking arms, knowing it was my job to give her the love she once deserved and never got. As we walked away I thank those that have granted me this gift. The gift that no act or gratitude can repay-my life.
Much Love,
Nikki Jay
The Choices you Make Dictate who you Become
by Nikki Jay on Jan.24, 2011, under Uncategorized
Hey Guys,
So its been a while, but i have an important topic for this week. Recently in my life I have had to make some very vital and difficult choices. These choices have slowly been forming my future for me. These decisions we make are the very pieces that determine the outcome of our life.
Now a lot of you may say this is slightly dramatic. But seriously, everything we do is dictated by the fork in the road we chose. Whether its the one coated in cobblestones jutted off to the right laced with thorns and danger or the one to the left filled with flowers and sun, one of them will change your life somehow.
The question is, should we take our time in our choices so our outcome becomes better? Or, should we take the chance our gut says to take and let fate take the wheel? Whatever the answer is be warry of the choices you make they could be the first domino starting the on going chain to your future.
Much Love,
Nikki Jay
I know its been a long time, but believe me I have a good reason
by Nikki Jay on Nov.19, 2010, under Uncategorized
Hey Guys,
Sorry its been so long, but I have recently gone through a very drastic transformation. I am now officially a freshman at Drexel University and a renowned member of the exclusive music industry program.
This week I want to discuss the idea of determination. Have you ever heard the old saying, if you try your hardest at something then you can accomplish it?, or maybe the famous, you can do anything you put your mind to? Well, sad as it is, whoever wrote these quotes were right. The things I have accomplished within six weeks here, I didn’t think I could accomplish in my entire life.
Seriously, coming from someone not a hundred years old or someone who has written hundreds of famous paper, its true. If you really try, put your insecurities aside and look at yourself, you really can do whatever your heart desires.
Just remember that the largest and most scary things will always be obstacles in your life, but learning how to get past them and discovering the truth behind them is where the real lesson is learned and by doing this you can change yourself to become something you never dreamed of.
Nothing is ever too hard to accomplish, when passion is the driving force behind it.
Much Love Always,
Nikki Jay
Hey guys you may have been wondering why I have not been writing for a while
by Nikki Jay on Jul.22, 2010, under Uncategorized
Hey Guys,
Don’t be mad at me for not writing in a while I promise I have a good excuse. For the past few weeks I have been enrolled in a intensive music program at Berklee College of Music. Here I have been taught many important things in regards to the world of music, but more importantly tonight I have found my next subject for my blog and that my friends is Inspiration.
Inspiration-a simple word meaning something, a experience, a word, a saying, an image, anything that causes you to dig deep inside you and release all of the creativity you posses inside.
Berklee is notorious for their amazing songwriting and tonight I witnessed genius here again. When I heard yet again more words of brilliant poets, people who share the same passion in life that I do, I could not help, but feel inspired to write again.
Remember when you have people in your life skilled in the world of inspiration use their words and creative souls to guide yours into creating art and wonders beyond your wildest dreams.
Those been inspired in the past cause future inspiration to live in the future and dreams to be born.
Much love,

Mistake me for I am only human
by Nikki Jay on May.24, 2010, under Uncategorized
In life memories are created, experiences are set in stone and friends and relationships become irreplaceable. This week I have made a mistake and these things I have listed have been tested to see just how much they can truly endure.
Before you take a step you have to look past the present and jump into the future. Those that surround you can be hurt or can be changed just by the smallest mistake you make. When you take a step into something new, take a risk that out passes anything you ever thought you would do, think about it before you initiate it.
For me I let my wants and my needs overtake my conscious, overtake the danger or the severity of what I had been doing. Dont make my mistake look down the cliff before you jump or you may just hit your head on the way down.
We are human we learn from our mistakes, but our mistakes can become successes if we take the time to look at them in the future and see the disaster coming up ahead.
Love always,
Nikki Jay <3
Hey guys this post is important
by Nikki Jay on May.11, 2010, under Uncategorized
As many of you know my name has changed. I am now Nikki Jay not Nikki Jaymes. The reason for this change is not the important part. The important part is the idea of a name or identification of oneself. When someone is given a name that name becomes a part of them and becomes a way of identifying that person. My name Nikki Jaymes was not identifying me correctly and it was even associating me with someone I have never wished to have any relation to.
A name is only letters on a paper, but when it becomes your name it starts to have meaning and importance. For this reason I hope you all understand why I have made this decision.
Much love as always,
Nikki Jay
sorry its been so long get ready for a good post
by Nikki Jay on Apr.26, 2010, under Uncategorized
So this past week I had the privilege of leaving the USA for a while, leaving my normal life for a while, and releasing myself into a new world, the world of the beautiful, serene-Italy.
Everyone knows Italy’s reputation of history and breathtaking scenery, but the importance of a place like this does not rest within the magic of the Trevi Fountain or the majesty of the Colluseum, but instead, rests in the memories and impressions it makes on you throughout your trip and throughout the rest of your life.
When I went to italy I was still me, the same person I have known all of my life, but by going on this magnificent adventure, I not only gained memories and friends that last a life time. I gained a new outlook on life and a new outlook on the world.
When you go to a new place all you can do is accept yourself as a part of it. Try to mold yourself into its culture, spin yourself into its language and history and most importantly embellish and engulf yourself in its wonder. Never let it go and keep it in the back of your mind for the rest of your life and create a new memory to add to your heart and soul. As the Italians might say…A presto!!
Molto amore,
Nikki Jay <3
